In general, traffic can come to your site through the following channels:

• Direct: this means someone knows about your website, and they type your URL into their web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, etc)
• Organic Search: this person started their search at a search engine (statistically, they likely started at Google), typed something into the search box, and they found your site in the search results. This is also know as SEO or Search Engine Optimization. We love this because these visitors come because Google likes you!
• Paid Search: these visitors clicked on a paid ad and arrived at your site. This is also known about PPC or Pay Per Click Advertising.
• Referral: a person was on someone else’s website, and they saw a link to your website. They clicked it and arrived at your website.
• Social: this person was on a social website, such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or many others, and they clicked on a link that took them to your website.

To see this data inside your Analytics account, from the left column, click Acquisition, then All Traffic, then Channels.
